NEW: Music for Christmas 2014
Andrew Carter's Benedicite will be in stock at Stamford Music Shop from early August. The price will be £9.45, which includes a discount for Stamford Choral Members. An initial order for 100 copies have been made, please order through the music shop once these have gone. Other carols to come. Members without OUP Carols for Choirs 1 & 2 might be able to find second-hand copies online or through members of local choirs.

Proposal for New Policy - Membership Review 

The committee has been discussing adopting a policy for when a member of Stamford Choral may not be able to continue to participate effectively at the standard required of the society. The draft policy is available for download here. Comments on the draft policy were invited before the 28th February 2014 and comments are now closed. 

Cyberbass  (and links to other useful sites)
Cyberbass is a free online resource that allows you to listen to individual voice parts of major choral works. Another very useful and comprehensive resouce is John Fletcher Music. You could also try Saffron Choral Prompt and ChoralLine. They are both very useful, but please note that the resources they provide are not free to use and Stamford Choral cannot provide funding for the use of these sites.

Voice Placement Tests

All new and prospective members of Stamford Choral are asked to undertake a Voice Placement test within three or four weeks of joining. Explanatory notes and the list of requirements can be found here

German Pronunciation Guide
Mr Paul Herniman kindly produced a German pronunciation guide for our use when performing german language repertoire. It can be downloaded here.

Forthcoming

Rehearsal at Stamford Methodist Church, Barn Hill. 7:45pm - 9:15pm. Elgar Spirit of England, third movement. 

Rehearsal in performance space on Broad Street ahead of commemoration performance. 2pm-2:30pm. Please be at the venue by 1:45 so that we can be on stage and ready to sing at 2pm.

At around 8pm on Broad Street, Stamford. Commemoration of the commencement of World War 1 at Stamford War Memorial. Stamford Choral will sing the third movement form Elgar's Spirit of England as part of a day of activities commemorating the beginning of the First World War. The Royal British Legion will lower standards as Binyon's famous text is sung to this profoundly moving setting.
